The bay and the Corniche
Agadir's beach follows the curve of the bay, with the Corniche promenade running behind it. The city lists walks along the Corniche and water sports as the main things to do here. The marina has cafés, restaurants and shops.
The national tourism office calls the bay calmer than the surf coast around Taghazout, and it describes bathing with children in positive terms. That is a general description of the bay, not a check of the sea on your day. Conditions change with tide, swell and weather, so decide on the spot.

Swimming safety
No beach rule replaces your own judgment.
Currents and waves
Official travel advice for Morocco warns of strong currents and unexpected waves. Many beaches have limited or no lifeguard supervision. Avoid remote bathing spots, and do not swim alone or after dark.
Flags and bans
A local news report from 2 July 2025 describes black flags and ignored swimming bans on Agadir beach. If a black flag is flying or an official tells you to stay out, stay out. Ask lifeguards or your hotel what the flag colors mean today.
Where currents were reported
The same report names the stretch between the hotels Amadil and Robinson, near the mouth of the Oued El Houar, as the place with dangerous currents and drop-offs. It is a report from 2025, not a current closure map. Choose a staffed section and ask locally before you go in near the river mouth.
Water quality
The German Foreign Office points to occasional infection risks from illegal sewage discharge in Morocco. It does not describe a general problem at Agadir. Avoid swallowing water and look for visible pollution before you swim.

The marina and a walk along the water
The marina is a leisure harbor with cafés, restaurants, shops and boat offers, and it opened in 2007. It is a good place for an evening stroll.
Boat trips leave from here. Offers differ by provider and season. Ask for the final price per person, how long the trip lasts, whether children are allowed and what happens if the weather cancels it.
Taghazout, the surf town nearby, is a separate place with rougher water and its own character. It is not a district of Agadir.
Planning a beach day
Weather, location and a short checklist.
Weather
Climate averages for 1991–2020 at the Agadir Inezgane station show average highs of 26.7 °C in July and 27.0 °C in August, and 21.1 °C in January. June and July are almost dry. November and December bring the most rain, with monthly averages of 42.3 and 47.4 mm. These are averages for the air, not a forecast, and they say nothing about the temperature of the sea. See the weather page.
Where to sleep
Founty is a seaside district with big resorts that have access to the promenade. Talborjt is further inland and has smaller, cheaper hotels. The page on where to stay compares the options.
A short checklist
Check the flag before you enter the water. Choose a staffed section. Stay away from the river mouth. Keep children in arm's reach. Do not swim alone, after dark or at remote spots.
